How to promote a forum.

I have recently added a forum section on a site at http://forums.webexcelsolutions.com

And now i want to promote it and want to increase no. of members who join it and participate in discussions and give their views on different topics....please help me what to do..

Well you have to do some optimization to your site by using good niche keywords, do some free directory submissions and use it's link in your signatures on different forums where you are active member as you started here.

You can also put some promotions for posting other people in your forum like some incentives or gifts for good posts. Initially you can start some good attractive threads.

Word of mouth, talk to yourself a lot, and don't get frustrated when people don't answer. Truthfully, I think you spent money on a forum script that is going to be virtually worthless to you.

You can create one viral report . Get some traffic from ebay , article writing. You can even do banner advertisement.

there are many other options. You just have to take some concrete action.

Not to mention , its really hard to promote forums.

it is really hard to promote a forum but what you really should be doing is to continue optimizing your site, do some free ads, link building, getting your keywords rank... remember optimizing a site really is a long term business...
