Why is this urgent?

Well one thing I noticed was a big shift in Pagerank measuring. Even though my sites did not lose positioning and I was able to get a lot of great links over the last few months, the Pagerank of most of my sites dropped.

Doesn't concern me, as this has happened a few times over the past 2 years, and my positioning has continued to improve.

I agree.
I guessing that Google now requires less links to gain a PR1-4 and more links to get a PR5 and above.
I also noticed that new sites seem to get better PRs that older sites given the same number of links.
Google could be giving lesser weight (importance) to domain age compared to before.
Anyone else noticed this? What do you think?

Yes - my sites either dropped a point on the indicated pagerank - or stayed the same, but even on those where the pagerank dropped, the ranking remained same or similar. The reported incoming links dropped too. I think Google is just getting fussier about which links it treats as good links that count towards pagerank, so many sites will see a small drop in pagerank but, because it's across the board, it's not had much effect on positioning.
