The potential risk with link exchange systems, is that if Google knows about it, then chances are all links coming from a link-exchange system will be filtered, which won't give you any boost at all.

Really, you just need to build up as many incoming-only links as possible. It's not impossible, but it does take time, imagination, effort...and money.

It doesnt take any time or effort actually. We have a network of sites that can guarantee you a minimum of 400+ links from webmaster and surfer related sites that are pr 4-8. If anyone cares I can show proof that a link from us can boost your ranking and PR immesurably.

What I learned about google so far is to build a large backlink database. Make sure the linker has the keyword you want to target in google as the text-link.

I've been live for 2 weeks and my ratings in alexa went up 800,000 due to this but I have a LONG way to go

So you actually got a PR update to 5? Interesting. This is the first time I heard of a pr update of a site in about 3 months or more.
