Hi,

I'm new to all this stuff. I did some time at uni but we never got round to getting listed with a search engine. I have created a website and would like to get it listed but for some reason dispite all of my efforts I just can't get added to Google so I'm obviously doing something wrong.

How long has the site been up?

It takes time. weeks, Or even months. keep working on getting backlinks and they will find you eventually.

I addition to what meman said, I'd recommend a crash course in seo: http://www.seomoz.org/beginners.php

Generally search engines take time for listing any site. But according to me, there is no need to submit your site in search engines. Just submit your site in directories. Directory submission helps in getting more backlinks. When your backlinks are more search engines will automatically find & list your site.

Pagerank of 6. Google has a scale of 0-10. 0 being the lowest Pagerank, 10 being the highest. You can think of it as a scale of 0-10, how important your site is to Google and to the rest of the Internet.
