Any SEO tips for us web developers?

The only one I learned so far is keeping links in words (not images).

Any more?

Just a short checklist for you bellow:

* Inbound Link Building
* Content Vs. Keyword Density
* Image - alt/title Attributes
* Hyperlink - title Attributes
* (SE) Search Engine friendly Navigation
* Inner / Cross linking
* Content tweaking (as needed)
* Landing page support
* Outbound link management / restrictions
* Meta tag arrangements
* Engine submissions
* Analysis / Troubleshooting to insure good results for selected search phrase
* and More.....

There is much more to look at when it comes to a well rounded SEO campaign. As you can see the list combines both onpage & offpage factors.

While some of the list can be argued as the designers job, let's get real for a second - Not many designers implement ANY of those elements A.) because they have no clue, or B.) because they are only focused on selling the design, not the optimal aspects of one in the eyes of algorithmic bliss.

At any rate, I wish you luck!

for me quality content always comes first then backlinks follow suddenly, because as far as i observed, some sites doesn't have enough backlinks and yet they rank so that is because of content

Those are links from other site pointing to your site without any given links to them in return.

your a developer so you have a massive advantage over all the bloggers and people with no development skills.

You can create dynamic titles, keywords and meta descriptions

Dont forget to use the htaccess to re write your URL paths so that you elimiate the passing of variables eg,

read_topic.php?Id=3 becomes

how-to-get-to-the-top-of-google-serp-so-that-you-make-more-money-.php

if you are using a database like mysql use the select random comand

eg
SELECT ID FROM Meta_Key_Box ORDER BY rand( ) LIMIT 1

to dynamically create fresh content for each new visitor (all content saved in table, just update the table each month or so with 15 new rows)

that way each time a bot comes it will get fresh content.

Limit the information that googlebot can acces so that you can drip feed it new info every 6 hours so that it has to keep comming back to your site for more data.

There are literately millions of things you can do from a development point of view to give yourself a massive advantage over all the other people who just use custom software like wordpress etc.

stick it to the newbs

So, you are saying that plug-in is useless? :o

Test it and see if it is correct or not... that is if you are using SGML parser (If you are talking about the plug-in in my developer's blog :lol:)

SGML Parser is what validator.w3.org uses and that is what I use... but mostly it's up to your preference :)

whats the point of having your code up to their strict standards, my site displays sweet as and is happily indexed by the bots.

What would i get out of going through my code and fixing it up so that its is wc3 ticked?
