Does anyone know how long exactly it takes google to index your site? I've checked my cpanel stats and it shows that I've had several hits from google but when I search in google for my site, nothing appears...

http://www.poorchdesigns.co.uk A search for site:www.poorchdesigns.co.uk results in nothing. Any ideas?

Whats the best way of marketing your website on the internet?

it just takes time, There is no way of knowing. It may take a week, it may take 8 months. Just concentrate on getting backlinks and eventually you should appear.

Yes, the time taken to show in google index varies from industry to industry.

Possibly any industries that normally get targetted by spammers would take considerably longer than lesser targeted industries... that is my theory.

It could simply be the more competitive the industry as a whole, the longer it takes to get 'known' by google as being worthy of inclusion.

As long as everything you do is 'white hat' and above board, then generally it is within 8 weeks that you should at least see your index page appearing in google... to get any deeper crawled pages in the main google index you would need other factors such as backlinks, internal linking and once again... time :(

Yep, google takes time for listing any site. For fast listing add sitemap in your site & try to get more backlinks. Also submit your site in directories. All these points will help you in fast listing.

If you have a forum you could create a sitemap from data stored in the database. So instead of scripts grabbing info from the database to create the forums structuure, It will create a sitemap.

If you know php it shouldn't be too hard, If you dont it will be a nightmare.
