you can check the page source and check the meta tags on a site to check if it is a no follow site.

eg this site is
<meta name="robots" content="index,follow">

But the individual links have nofollow eg
<a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awww.india-forums.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">

Yup, that's exactly what I meant... thanks for clarifying :)

if you are really worried about back links, so you start posting hardcore on another server, I would probably check the stylesheets aswel just to make sure they havent hidden it there eg,

<a href="gfgf" class="hehehetheywillneverknowitisnofollow">bl

maybe someone with more stylesheet experience can advise but I would think it is possible?

stylesheet can't do anything about nofollow... it's just about styles... what do you mean?

Other than...

Code: [ Select ]
a[rel~="nofollow"]:after {
content: "!";
background-color: white !important;
color: red !important;
font-weight: bold !important;text-decoration: blink !important;
}
  1. a[rel~="nofollow"]:after {
  2. content: "!";
  3. background-color: white !important;
  4. color: red !important;
  5. font-weight: bold !important;text-decoration: blink !important;
  6. }

(Something like that... fast googling :lol:) That only spots the nofollow stuff... doesn't actually do anything about it other than making the nofollow link visible and stand out to the visual not to the spider...

i wasnt sure, I could just imagine some webmaster chucking to himself that he had hidden the no follow tag where someone cant see it.

Glad to know that it cant be dont that way.

also, as another note, the no follow tags that are in the link anchor only stop google from following the link. For yahoo and msn they still count it as a valid back link (At the moment, may change in the future)

You can check by adding your domain to this url, the under yahoo links, click the number and it will take you to a page showing you all the links to your site that yahoo has in its index.

I have left my site so that you can click my thing under yahoo if you dont have nay yahoo links yet.

http://www.submitexpress.com/cgi-bin/li ... smoney.com

You do have to copy and past the link into your broswer window, the link wont work if you click on it.
