Hi everyone!

I hope someone can help me help an old friend. His site is many years old and he have many links on many sites but still his PR is 0 and no backlinks can be found according to Google. This is simply not correct. He contacted Google and they told him that he is not banned but he has to follow the rules?!!?!? Something wrong with his site? Take a look:

Thanks!

Some of the things he may want to consider,

The pages have no doctype. Need something like this,

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

Get rid of this meta tag,

<meta name="revisit-after" content="7 days">

Get rid of all the external links from the home page. They are bleeding so much page rank that the page would'nt have any pr left to pass to the internal pages, even if it had any!

I doubt the number of external links has anything to do with it. Of course it will not pass that much PR to his other pages but the mainpage should still have a good PR. I will tell him to make the HTML changes. I think the external links is what makes the site popular and he will not touch those.

Any other ideas?

I think he might be running up against a couple of problems ...

With so many free stuff and give away links there may be one or two spammers and this site may be considered related ...

Quote:
Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.

The other place where there may be a problem is with the content.

Quote:
Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.

Consider a home page with original content with just a few links. Then check out every link possible spammers before adding them to the site.

Then try the "Website Evaluation" forum ....

Also, google is probably treating it like a link farm since it doesn't have much content
