I think #3 is not a good idea, for me it is better that major search engine find me rather than submitting my site to them!

Hey there,

I disagree with you skysoldier.

People can argue that submitting a website multiple times will hurt you but this is entirely a myth. If this was true, competitors could keep submitting your website to the search engines and it would hurt you - but this is not the case. In the google guidelines, it even says there is little a competitor can do to hurt your rankings.

http://www.google.com/support/webmaster ... swer=35769

It even says this in the guidelines:

"Submit it to Google at http://www.google.com/addurl.html"

Having a myspace website does not help as much as it use to. They have added nofollow links to their webpages - which was the best thing they could have done. Dumb spammers were ruining their community, and some still are.

That was a pretty good list though.

Sincerely,
Travis Walters

i agree with skysoldier. there is no point of submitting to search engines. search engines are search engine so let them search. we concern about search engine because we want to rank high. getting index quickly without submitting is one process of understanding how search engines work. the more we know how they work the better we are in seo.

twalters84 my friend, I'm not saying that submitting to SE can hurt you, what I'm trying to say is that it is better that you let them find you so your site will be indexed faster than submitting it to them!

submit the URL to search engines is a basic way for inviting spider to visit your website, so it should be take in to account

Again, for me spiders automatically crawl your site if you link with the one that is already been crawled by them faster than submitting it manually to SE's

Hey there,

I submitted an XML sitemap to google and had over 250 pages indexed within two days, 1000 within a week..

You can not get much faster than that ;)

Hi Guyz,

Forget about that long list, all you need is a few good links from high ranking quality websites and you'll see the difference.

Hey there,

A few high quality links may cut it with yahoo, but not with google, especially for highly competitive keywords.

Do you really think that one factor alone can bring you to the top? Google is doing everything it can right now to fight paid links. They are putting much less weight on websites that just have that one factor.

If your statement was true, you would see a lot more gambling, porn, and spammer sites reaching the top of the rankings for keywords that make no sense to the site content.

Sincerely,
Travis Walters

Well there are many factors to consider when you buy links, first the linking site should be revelent to yours, and the anchor text you are using should match your main target keyword.

Having more backlinks is the only way to get to high ranking no matter what everyone says. However like i mentioned above, you must make sure the site linking to you must be relevant with quality content. But still the content on your site also matters big time.

Even Google says in its FAQs that the more votes your site has the better rank you'll get. By vote they mean links. They dont ask you to buy links, but how else you are going to get more votes if no one knows about your site? :)

nice theory but.. why being trying hard to submit your url to, much better with the opinion of skysoldier, let the se crawled and indexed your page.

The list above is given that can used to promote a site!

There are many factors to consider in order for your site to rank, some of it are writing unique or fresh content, quality inbound and outbound links. If you do this and your site will be at SERP's.

And your site will have plenty of traffic or even a potential customer.

Yes, it's a way to have backlinks but make sure that you have links going to your site.

I never submitted my sites to Google and GoogleBot sill found them through links from other sites. I say that Google just put up the submit button so that people that were confused on how to summit to Google would have a place to do it. If they didn’t have it I don’t think most people would understand how to get listed in Google.
