Tips for Plain HTML Page being more "SEO friendly"

I've got a blog and it appears on search engines quite easily without me submitting them manually.

Well, I've made a plain HTML page (index.html) as a front welcoming page to my site and just would like to know if there are any tips to make it appear to the search engines easily? Or a better page rank?

Any codes to put to the page?

What about meta tags? Will this help? I hope I will get some useful information on the net......

blog have advantage at ping. thus its craw faster.

If it's a blog, it'd be easier, mine isn't. It's just a plain HTML page. That makes it hard to be listed in search engines and this is why I'm seeking some good solution and advice here.

ozzu uses nofollow. Your backlinks here dont count in google.

Meta tags do not matter much, if anything. Just have them match your title / body content wiht most important keywords and phrases.

Meta keywords are not all valued by google, and similarly meta description also is ignored by google. But about 250 words from your meta description will be displayed in SERP so having good description will make the visitor to click on your site. If meta description is not there in the page, random snippets from the page for which your page was displayed in search queries will be displayed, which will not be ease or attract the visitors eyes.

Am I right guys?

i've got a relatively plain website with average content... not that much text in it, due to the nature of the website....

the site used to be position 1-4 (page 1) on organic results for google, for the relevant keywords, but it's suddenly dropped to page 4 since 1st jan 2007.

can anyone lend a hand and have a look, and possibly give me some ideas as to why it's gone down?

This is how Google is seeing your site - which I believe is the main issue.

You need more "unique" or "entry" pages.

Have a look at this..

Google is seeing hundreds of pages as the same page. THAT is your problem.

Ive made first page Google, and second page Google in 6 months with a new site using just meta tags and meta description tags. So at a guess, in answer to your question - no.
