What is PageRank?
PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a page's importance from the votes cast for it. How important each vote is is taken into account when a page's PageRank is calculated.

Yep, but pagerank is important in SEM and link exchanges. :)

Some webmasters buy sites with high PR, to prove that high PR sites have quality. :)

Hi !

Page rank shows the link popularity of your site, i.e. how much quality links your website is getting from the other websites. websites with higher Page Rank than the lower one. However, higher page rank does not have any impact on the site traffic, but it may help you to get good position in organic results. Because, the organic result of Google is a factor of relevancy of the content and the page rank.
