found out that my ISP is not connecting to http://toolbarqueries.google.com/ so that's why.

guess I'll just wait it out and see. Thanks for your help everyone! :P

Make sure you did not mess with your hosts file on your Windows machine. If I recall you messed around with that in the past to see if PageRank was different on different datacenters during a "dance". Anyway if your hosts file still has an entry, it may be pointing to an IP that does not work anymore. To resolve the problem simply remove that line from the hosts file.

yep you are correct - and self-proclaimed genius as I recall :P

No entries in my hosts file pointing to any specific IP, and it all works

Also, sometimes they are working on the PR, so every so often, my PR will show 0. When this happens I found the fix to do look at the backlinks, then hit the "back" button. Do not know why this fixes it, but it does :-/

i had an entry in my hosts file pointing my toolbar to a now invalid IP
address. Thanks to Bigweb for having me put it there in the first place,
but thanks again for reminding me about it.
