I don't get this at all. I have a sh*tload of links now to my popunder exchange site. It's listed in my signature. When I had 192 links I was ranked in the 180s. Now my Google link count shows 454 links. Marketleap shows 9,401 total inbound links and my Google rank dropped to 270 for "pop under exchange"

Now get this, the authority site, xaviermedia.com (PR4) on shows 80 links on Google. It sells a popunder exchange script.

This is really getting irritating, It's not just the legitimate sites that are ranked higher than my site it is the spam sites that are just junk sites that rank higher than mine.

Any thoughts?

the midi hurt you big time lose the midi and regain your position. You can't auto load any midi and expect to be taken serious.

P.S. Your google bomb attempt was severly lacking BTW the first comment was a joke I am sure you are positive that you know why your losing ranking.

I'm really interested in why this would hurt my rankings.

Can you be more specific?

If I am going to remove the file, I want to know what it is about the file that is killing my rankings.

I don't really know much about midi files.

How long have you had this loss of positioning? I track hundreds of keywords and at times I see them drop off the map and I didn't make any changes. They always bounce back up a week or two later. If this is your case, I would just be patient.

I check rankings for that site every week or so. It went down since the last time I checked. Today it is down to 282.

I don't think Google likes that site. I bought a turnkey site. I did some customization. I think I should redesign the sites and add a traffic related forum. Forums seem to be pretty relevant on Google.

I still don't know what Kevins_Kevlar was talking about with midi file but I removed it as he suggested. I don't even think that it is really an issue.

Googles not stupid... they will tank your site as soon as these start poping up in your backlinks constantly

The highest rank I've seen my site at is 164.

I think it should at least be in the first page.

Is there anything wrong with the site that it would loose not gain rank?

Google doesn't "tank" sites the have posts in forums asking about SEO stuff. That's not even a relevant coment.

BTW, I lost 12 spots when I took out the midi. What were you saying about the midi file? You didn't really explain why it would hurt my rankings.

Their is no real logic to why midi hurts your ranking but show me one site on google that has a number one spot with a competitive key phrase, Over (1,000,000 sites in the term) and I will show you a million dollar bill.

But hey this is just one mans view, theirs got to be a reason for it. I mean the sky is blue I don't wan't to know why its just that way.

Just some tips. Your site still needs to be better optimized. Just getting a lot of links isn't going to cut it. One thing I noticed is that you misspelled "Exchange" in your title.

If your looking to get rankings for "popunder exchange", you should put that phrase first in the title and in a heading tag on your site...

Because I was bored I looked into the history of your site and I am almost shocked that your site hasen't been tanked after aquiring 8000 links in 2 days on Oct,18 2004 when you started what I can only guess a scam campain or spam campaign lol

I can't really control the time line by which links are indexed a general rule is get 5-10 per day. Jess posted a link to large list of search engines and directories were you can submit your website. I submitted all my sites to the free ones. So nearly all my sites picked up some Yahoo backlinks/Google backlinks. In my experience, Google takes about 10-45 days to show new backlinks. Yahoo shows them usually within about a two weeks. So say I found 100 places to get listed over the course of a month. Google doesn't find those for up to month after that. So you should see a spike in the number of backlinks.

Thanks for your input guys.

I will update this thread when there are some new developments.

sounds interesting. but i read bits here and there of the post. Seems confusing too.

webspace maybe you are looking too intently on the rankings, with more time, it may rise back again

the rankings fluctuates sometimes :-)
