Anyone care to invest $350 - $500 Million Dollars for about.com?

Reports are that Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL and NYT are all bidding on the network.

I think NYT (New York Trading) have been most aggressive with their bidding, but you never know what Google will crop up with....

Tough Call.

Personally, I never did like that website.

I preferred their urbanlegends.about.com section, but could never find what I wanted anywhere else on the site. I'd give them $10 for the urbanlegends! :)

NYT were quite aggressive with their bidding apparently and I have read from some top guys that they were favourite to pick it up.

Personally I feel that Google already have a strong relationship with about.com by supplying their advertisments and it could just give them an added edge on the situation.

Bidding ended on tuesday, Should be news soon.

Theres an interesting point of view here that i kinda agree with -

Tuesday.
I reckon google will want to buy it. Since google has an added advantage to it, they may be the one buying it afterall!!

Getting about.com as local is a great idea,

although it does strike some resenblence to wikiopedia/wikiotravel in some ways! :-)
