I am using a static archives file:

http://www.minoritymedstudents.com/forums/archive.php

It actually appears better than the mod rewrite because it generates page titles for each topic post. My only problem is that search engines will not index it because of duplicate content. Google visits the archive url and goes no further towards indexing it.

So, I have an idea and I want to get some opinions. What if I were to use the robots.txt file to ban robots from indexing my forums/index.php file. The hope would be that they would then index my forums/archive.php file.

Do anyone think that would work?

not even the msn bot has indexed your archive pages
http://beta.search.msn.com/results.aspx ... FORM=PDRE4

where as it has mine

http://beta.search.msn.com/results.aspx ... FORM=PDRE7

so i would say that your linking to the wrong thing or that you havnt got it linked clearly enought.

also try using this archive mod instead ScriptWiz.com phpbb HTML Archiver (You will have to google 4 it :D)
