Ok, from my other post, people are saying that website submission programs dont work. Why then are there so many available for sale and free sites that auto submit if they dont work?

Please post and let me know if you do use such a program for your website submissions.

Thanks!

They take advantage of people who don't know that submitting is not the best way to get listed in the search engines. I see a lot of web designer's sites claiming to be search engine optimizers but all they seem to offer is the ability to submit to 100's of search engines...90% of which will never bring you any visitors. Here's a quote from one of my local competitors from their SEO page:
"After your web site is completed and optimized for the search engines, we will offer to submit your web site to these search engines for you, or we will make suggestions as to how you can do this portion yourselves. Either way, it is important to let the search engines know about your new site."

Even these guys don't realize incoming links are the best way to get found ;)

I think the best kind of search engine submission is to get people to link to your site. search engin will find your site through other sites. goto dmoz.org and find the catagory you best fit and submit there, dont waste your money on submissing programs.

but don't rely on dmoz only also. It takes time before dmoz editor will analyze your site and it will also take time before you will listed to their directory. so while waiting if your site was approved or disapproved by dmoz editors, try submitting your site to other directories also.

true, but a page with a higher page ranking works better

for exemple this one:

Simple - Because people who are new to SEO do not know any better and the thought of spending days upon days hand submiting to directories, etc scares the living daylights out of them. So they pay ... they waste their money, then they realise they have too submit by hand.

Automated submission programs do not work .
