Frankly speaking, you should focus more on getting traffic for your website than wasting time with Pagerank. Pagerank will not get you more web design clients, but targeted traffic will.

That said, articles do tend to get targeted traffic for your website, so go for it.

Directories can do PR up to 4. If you also submit a lot of articles you cat go up to 5.

Article submission is a good way to bring in traffic too! I like to use free press release dot com. I find it very helpful, and it's free. I don't know what it does for PR though, probably not much. But isn't this an "artificial" way to raise PR?

Getting high pr is about getting lots of backlinks to your sites. Try to get links from other high PR sites. If you want PR5 get lots of pr5 links and in the next update, you'll achieve what you have wanted.

Article writing increase the traffic of site and also it gives you back link to your site. But from PR4 to PR5 it takes some time just keep doing all this things. Definitely you will get the PR5.
All the best.

That is one of the strategy. You should write more articles and submit to high PR article directories.

Press release will be great too :)
