Probably to log visitor tracking, search engine terms, referrers, etc.

Personally, I use a combination of AWStats (which is basically an Apache log file analyzer), and my own custom scripts which gather stats realtime.

If that is the case then AWstats is the standard. That comes with most of the hosting plans.

I wonder why there is not a better looking equivalent tool (or I don't know to exist).

Because most people who develop useful SEO software beyond the basics of log analysis don't release them to the public. They'd be destroying their own market by putting their tools in the hands of the masses.

The scripts I write for my sites never get released to the public or sold. Even when I write something for a client's site, it's there to improve my abilities as their SEO. They never see the scripts running, or the data I'm working with. They don't understand it, they don't need to understand it, so they don't need to see it.

Axe: If I were you I would sell my scripts on http://www.hotscripts.com - I think you can make good money if the scripts are usefull for eventual clients.

Of course that you will have to obfuscate the code (with Zend) so they can't rip off your code.

I make more money using the software myself, and charging clients for the work I do. :)

Why should I let my competitors have access to all my tools, and put them in a position to take my clients away from me? I know many other SEOs that also write their own tools and feel the same way.
