I want to block indexing of my printer friendly versions of my articles. They all exist under the /print/ root folder. This is my robots.txt file, which existed the same day my printer friendly versions of my articles went up:

Quote:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /print/

User-agent: ia_archiver
Disallow: /

http://www.xona.com/robots.txt

But it did not block Google from indexing those pages:

http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Axona.com
(Notice the "www.xona.com/print/..." results.)

I do notice that there is no Google cached version of only my printer friendly pages, so it appears to have blocked that.

Is there anything I am doing wrong/right?

Even though you updated your robots.txt at the same time you published the print versions, Google may have seen links to the print versions before it downloaded your robots.txt again.

If you just give it a lil time, Google should drop them eventually.

Very good point. I was assuming my robots.txt file was wrong, as they are so very hard to test out! :)

Thanks.
