hi, i think i read somewhere that for a good seo page headers (h1 infact) should be used as the static text links to the rest of your site..

is this correct?

should headers be used as links.. does it benefit the page in any way in relation to search engines..?

when i use h1 as links in IE it leaves a big gap underneath and its annoying.

You can change the style for h1 in your stylesheet to eliminate that space.

You'll want to play with the margin and padding values 'til you like what you see:

Oh sorry.. I didn't address that question because I haven't the foggiest idea about SEO. Perhaps the folks in one of the Internet Marketing forums can be of further assistance. =]

It is semantically incorrect to use headers as links. But its no great issue and I have done it myself on my movie websites homepage.

I wouldn't recommend using headers as links, unless if it makes your site better to use. Generally I never use headers as links, but it's your call.

The "Rule" for SEO is there should be only one h1 tag on your page and it should specifially describe what is on that page. With that in mind i would guess making it a link would be more damaging than good.

i think using headers as link is not necessary, just a simple heading is enough
