Right now, crawlers do index images, but using only the filename or related keywords in the page. True image crawling would require intelligent image processing, which isn't possible yet.

I don't think any crawler indexes Flash at the moment, but it is very likely that in the near future crawlers will index text content inside Flash files.

Actually casablanca Adobe has been working with Google and Yahoo to provide flash technology that allows the engines to index Flash more effectively.

Read the entire content (it's already happening).

As far as pictures you are pretty much spot on. In fact this wiki entry describes exactly how Google does it.

Interesting. I always thought it would be worth indexing Flash, and there you are, they've already started doing it.

This work by Google and D-Wave looks like it has potential.

Googles existing image search does provide functionality such as color search, face search, and others that suggest Google has actually been processing images and not just going by the filenames and keywords in the page alone for quite awhile now.
Strong with this one, the sudo is.
