I 've got one question??????

Ive a site with page with all affiliate links & other one is actually a page selling products (not an affiliate). So I've submitted my site but did not get listed so what would you suggest ? Which page to submit ???? A page with a selling products or an index page with affiliate links also linking to the page selling non affiliate products ?

i would suggest to sumbit page with selling proudct. We have tried to submit our site to DMOZ for more than a year and nothing and then submited one page from our site with description of one of our product and we were listed in like twoo weeks. So the more unique your page the better are chances to get in DMOZ i guess. although i am sure that others have different experience.

Shrek_Update that is not quite the case.

Your site has been reviewed many times going back quite a while however everytime it has been viewed by an editor the site has been down. Infact as I try to look at it now I get a DNS error. The deeplink had no connection whatsoever with the speed it takes to get reviewed - an editor is either available to review that catgeory or not.

@ponpots - Unless your particular product is so rare and unique that it is not available anywhere on the net then a deeplink past affiliate pages is unlikely. If you are talking about http://www.the-resellers.com then it is my understanding of the notes that it has not yet been rejected/deleted or moved although an editor has had to delete duplicate submissions. I would suggest that you consider a visit to http://www.resource-zone.com and as for a status check.

Hope this helps

You should submit your main page and of course it should contain unique content ;)

You should never submit the product page. You will almost never get in. Always submit the home page. THe only time a product page will get in is if an editor feels that page has to do with his or her category. An example is that an editor, on their own, found a product on one of our sites that they were interested in putting in their category. They added the actual product page to the category.

A couple of questions here.... so here goes.

I know in the world of 'Real Life' 4 months is a long time (a very long time infact) - however in cyber world where there are probably tens of new sites going live for each and every minute (maybe even second) of the day 4 months is the smallest pin in the worlds biggest haystack especially when you consider the amount of human interaction that is required to list a site in ODP.

Truthfully 4 months is not a long time and personally you would be better forgetting it as if it was not submitted. The deed has been done, you have done all you can, if it gets listed in the future.... BONUS!!! That truthfully is the way that you should look upon a listing in ODP. I can confirm that the site has not been deleted/listed/moved - so the news is not bad at this stage.

I want to say something but I want to assure you that this is a general comment and not directed at you, your site or activities. No site, whatever its purpose, should depend on one particular aspect to be successful. What I am trying to say is that no listing in any directory should be considered 'that' important and if a business or its success depends on that aspect then I am afraid the business model needs some serious work. I would be very worried if any of my associates started up a new business 'hoping' that Mr Jones from Jones & Co would end up being a main customer - especially if without Mr Jones purchases the business would fail.

The ODP is a very small fish in a very big ocean and there are hundreds of other ways to promote services. I know a listing in the ODP is good, that I don't dispute, but it is only one of many avenues.

I guess this is a little bit of an exageration. What I really want, is to get above a pr of 4 . I have been a 4 for a month and I want to be a 5. Really though, what I really really really want is to not go to work tomarrow and go offshore fishing somewhere between here and the bahamas. 8) I care but I dont lose sleep over it. In fact I dont lose sleep over any of this. I do however lose sleep every night because I have two kids that are 2 and 3. This website is fun for me and I was just asking beacuse I knew you could look it up. I realize the last thing you want is 1000 people asking you about their status. Maybe you should be starting a website called http://www.secretdmozsitecheckfrombuster.com and you could charge 50 cents for a status check on submissions. Now there is a website.
Good Luck and thanks again!

Did you check the last time your category was updated? It will show in the footer of your category.
