Hello, I am wondering if I should submit my (domain fowarding url's) redirect sites to all the search engines to my main website.
I heard that search engines penalize you for this, especially google...
Please help...
Thanks...

forwarding url's? do you mean gateway pages? or just domains that are pointing to your real one?

for the domains, use a 301 Permanent Redirect.

if you have htaccess, drop this into it:
Code: [ Select ]
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule /* http://www.yourotherdomain.com/ [R=permanent]
  1. RewriteEngine On
  2. RewriteRule /* http://www.yourotherdomain.com/ [R=permanent]

If you have several domains pointing to the same site purely on the reasoning that 2 domains each displaying identical content == twice as much content (an argument that is flawed in oh so many ways), then you will be penalized by search engines.

Just concentrate on your primary domain. If you have other domains that you wish to forward to this domain, then use a 301 redirect, and forget about them.

I would not forward any URLs to your main domain.

I had several urls forwarded to my site ( not knowing it would cause a problem). It has caused me problems with Google and Yahoo.

We removed the forwarding and notified both SE's. Now, we are doing fine with Google and still waiting for a review from Yahoo.
