Hi,
I'm a newbie so go easy on me :)

When doing a search for my site on yahoo and afew other places, on the SERP it says this under the listing.

site1
Browsing of this directory disabled. Webmaster, to enable browsing, delete this file

I'm not sure whats going on.
I've disabled browsing of most of the folders in index manager of cpanel.
I think it's setup correctly.
Here are some other settings.

<META NAME="Robots" CONTENT="All">

and robots.txt is empty

Thanks

Alan

Alan I have to admit that I havn't ever seen a message like that before in the serps so my suggestions are purely suggestions... they may work, they may not. But the way I see it, it's just a matter of elimination

First thing to do, get onto your hosting provider. Send them all the information and as them if its something their end (that was my first thought)

then i checked the robots.txt file and it appears you have one, hoever there is nothing in it.

User-agent: *
Disallow:

Try putting that in it. That tells all the robots they may index whatever content they wish from your server.

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=n ... ooth%2Ecom

I think the fact alone that google hasn't indexed you (as they normally do way before yahoo) tells you theres an indexing problem.

My guesses are this is either a setup your host has wrong - or its to do eith the fact that your robots.txt isnt telling the spider what it can or cannot do so they are jut leaving.....

Hope that helps a bit?

Ok ive added the info to robots.txt, hopefully that will fix it, is there any way to find out when its been spidered again?

I've read around about robots.txt and i just assumed if it was blank it would just allow all, so i didnt think that was the problem.

Thanks for the help!

Alan
