Does someone have to submit frequently, or is a single time enough?

Most of the time, a single submission will be ok. Will Google, for example, as long as you get some links from other sites and directories, Google will find you on its own.

To a search engine, never is plenty. The engines find you faster through links, and it is only when you have plenty of links to rank high that it even matters that you are listed.

Directories, such as Gimpsy, Skaffee, Xoron, etc. are worth spending the time on, but once is plenty for them.

If anyone wants a copy, I have an excel spreadsheet that I made with a lot of the search engines linked in it. You can just go down the list click each link, put in your keywords & check your placement. It is set up to help you track you placement so you can follow how your changes affected your placement over time. I've found that some of the programs that automate checking your rank are not 100% accurate. Anyway, if anyone wants a copy shoot me an email. (you might also find some search engines that you didn't know about and can submit to)

one of the reasons the automated tools might not be "right" is because of the whole datacenter thing... even though it's not "right" when you check it, it's right considering the datacenter being used

http://www.01webdirectory.com - apply thru email (free)
http://www.wowdirectory.com/how_add.php - free or express
I could list more but instead I'll leave a link with a bunch of directories, I think someone in Ozzu posted this before, or maybe not, I can't remember:

I see Gigablast tries to promote itself with "Gigablast" - put a link
on your site and you get higher ranking on searches on gigablast.

I submitted, I am just curious if I will get any visitor from them.

You think Google will penalize me for this? Should I do some cloacking
and don't feed googlebot the gigablast link?

I meant "higher ranking in their results", sorry - corrected.

btw: anybody knows how gigablast works? I did a search on
some of my target terms that I am #1 also, and I get some weird
results in the Giga Bits top section: I mean these are some sites I
recognize I have links on them to my site.

This looks pretty cool

I wouldnt worry to much about gigablast. They are a very very small engine and you will have a very small amount of traffic coming from there.

Can you please remove one of your links in your sig as we only allow a max of 2. Thanks.

DavyDuke17,
Thank you very much for the link to WoW. I own WoW and I’m a partner in Skaffe. If I can help anybody with getting listed in either directory just PM me here. I will drop by daily. Great forums!
