I have done this by Posting adds on classifieds, article writing, Submitting my websites in web directories etc.

It depends from site content also, you need to sign up to some rankings, then try some seo

As long as you got interesting article on Squidoo or Hubpages for sure you will get an audience. Also try the powers of Facebook and Twitter.

buy some private advertising, buying google ads have stupid rates sometimes and i think facebook is the worst of them.

i have a small network of sites that work togeather providing traffic to others, so i have my few main sites and they have my ad's in management and they send traffic to my other sites. It is more work but better long term.

With Google Panda's update, I suggest you focus on copywriting stuff such as sales copies and testimonials submitted in various web 2.0 sites.
