I installed the google desktop search yesterday, and its still indexing my files. I am a little wary of it,because I am not sure if my information will be sold to third parties each time i log into the web. Does anyone out there have any negative or poritive experiences with this 'search' tool?

I've never used it, but I think quite a few here do use it. As far as speeding up your indexing time, try disabling your Anti-Virus realtime protection. Your AV will scan every single file the Google search is looking at and really slow you down.
