whats the deal with the multiple search engines? i dont understand, why don't they just make their own search engine better? Are they not just advertising for the other search engines they support(lycos,google, and Jeeves)? i mean it Is help full if you'd rather use another engine or all at once. But still, from a business perspective, i don't get it.

HotBot isn't accually owned by HotBot it's just Inktomi branded under the HotBot name. The main reason they have so many search engines alongwith Inktomi is for convienince. They earn money from Overture so that Overture can put pay per click results on the search engine results.
