You may want to look for a better category. Before you submit anywhere, I would suggest looking in the footer and seeing when your category was last updated. This will help tell you whether your going to get in anytime soon.

GRRRRR, I see the category I had submitted to was last updated Oct. 13 2005. :x

There is only one website listed for the brand of food I sell, and it's not even right. You can't even buy the food at that place. ARGGG

I sent in an application noting there was an incorrect link on that page as one of the reasons I would like to be an editor. I'm sure I won't be accepted as the person editing that category is active. There are so many good websites that should be on that page too. There's only like 30, there should be alot more.

Does the category say there is an editor, or it was just last updated on the 13th? If it says it's looking for an editor, the update could have been done by one the "higher-up" editors and you could still have a chance to becoe one.

Otherwise, if the last time you submitted was like a year ago, I would submit again...it may have been deleted for whatever reason.

Ah, I see it doesn't have an editor. Cool.
I see you have to go up 3 categories before you find one that does.

Nope, rejected.

Wonder how long I should wait to retry.

The best policy for dmoz is to submit and forget. Whether you make it in or not is nothing more than a crap shoot. dmoz has, and will continue, to lose importance with every passing day.

I would find a better category if it has been awhile for you. I know the phrase is "submit and forget", but I feel that DMOZ is still very important to Google. I have seen this time and time again over the years, when I get a site listed in DMOZ, then finally gets mirrored into Google's Directory, I see a huge boost in positioning.

I believe this is just one big step in getting through the ever-mystifing "Sandbox" as it helps Google see that you are a legitimate site and helps find the category/industry you are in.

None of this is proven, it is just what I have seen and experienced with so many of my clients. It may change in the future, well it most likely will, but currently is works quite well.
