How important is the age of a website?

To achieve high ranking in the serps is it very important for the website to be several years old? Or can new sites get top rankings just as easily?

Domain age / site age has a little consideration in rankings. The most important thing to achieve a good SERP standing is thru proper optimization (old and new sites are treated equally)

it has a consideration this because regarding with the BL gathered in those span of time. and also by then the site can be perfectly consider as quality site.

Domain age carries extra weight in case of seo ranking.
