Link to self?

Mods, sorry, I looked for somewhere for this to go and did not see one. can move if need to.

This is odd! In looking for links I am seeing people who are puting links to their sites, in and on their own site.

Whats that all about? Anyone else seeing this?

How do you mean Swan?, could you give an example so we can give advice.

2 or 3 times now in looking for links I have went to a site where the site has a link to its self on the links page. thus linking basicly to it's self.

Strange. Whats the purpose of putting your own link on your own site.

do they rhink it's going to improve their PR or something?

Sometimes on link pages they have no other links pointing to their homepage so they get a link in here and there in the list just to push a small amount of PR to their home.

Another reason is that the more links they have on that page pointing to the rest of their site, the less PR they leak to the other outside sites.

So it's a self serving type of link because the person has not put 2 & 2 together yet, or came here to learn it.


Haven't heard from you there in awhile Veto, hows the "rap up" work coming? I am looking forward to reading it.

Its going very slowly right now. I have been working with a very large client and haven't had the much extra time lately.

Veto, So what if i have links page pointing to links of outward site cause they given me links as well, So my PR going to decrease this way, or say PR leak... if yes what are the other options to link back.
