You need more hits, more traffic? Well don't we all :). IF this is one of your first stops on your quest to find help to generate more traffic to your site then you are in luck. That means you have not spent a ton of hours trying out stupid scams, or paying someone too much money to attempt to generate traffic to your site.

Don't get me wrong, if you do not have the time or energy to generate more traffic to your site on your own, then by all means hire a professional to do it for you. Just make sure you can trust that person to do what they say they will do.

On the other hand if you are like me, you will attempt the task on your own. I've tried a few basic practices that I've picked up along the way and they have actually proved to generate more hits to my site. Maybe some of these practices can help you get more hits too.

When you start to make a web page, complete your meta tags first. In particular your "Tile", "Description", and "Keywords"tags. When choosing a title, make sure it is unique to that page. Try to make at least one of your keywords show up in your title and that keyword should also show up in the body of your page. Try not to go overboard with keyword duplication (repeating the same keyword over and over), this is considered spamming by most search engines.

After you have all meta tags in place you will be conscience of what your page is all about. Making the content of the page more relevant to your meta tags and earning you a higher position with search engines.

When you think that your page is ready to go, make sure to submit it to all of the popular search engines, (That is a lesson in itself). IF you don't submit your newly remodeled page, it won't be seen! when it comes time for the search engine to spider your submitted page, it will pick up the new keywords and content, and place it in it's database accordingly.

The above tip is pretty basic, but if you create your page in this manner with the right keywords, you should be able to increase your click through rate

An alternative is to find a site that you think offers relevant content, and ask them to post your ads (either monthly fee or PPC). If you have a morgage company, then I expect you can invest something because of high returns if you do get a visitor to your site!? Consider it this way: for every 100 visitors you get, what is your expected revenue? Then you'll know what you want to pay for. Mortgages are a highly competitive term for search results, so you might waste a lot of time trying to get results that aren't guaranteed.

These are some of the good ways that I have found to be good to receive targeted traffic.

8) Pay Per Click Search Engines - a lot of them listed with us offer $5, $10, $15, $25, $50, and more in FREE advertising.

8) Reciprocal Linking - exchange links with other sites and you will get more visitors plus your sites PR is likely to improve.

8) Make you site bigger and add more content - by doing this, you will find that you will get more listings within the major search engines.

8) Add you link in your email signatures and possibly in signatures that you use on any of the forums.

I would think that ppc search engines would give you a pretty good ROI because you have a niche market.

It is quite difficult to get high search engine rankings in google and yahoo with a new website, these things take time and usualy money as well.

I would recommend exchanging links with simlar sites (but not competing sites) to help your search engine results.

Alot of ppc search engines does give you a good ROI because you can choose the keywords that you want your listing to show up with and you can also choose your sites description.

With Google, it can be quite hard to make your sites listing look exactly how you want it.

I think the problem with a mortgage company, is that google adwords can be really expensive for any relevant terms. It's a big business, so its unlikely that you'll be able to boost yourself to the top amongst all the other noise, so there is no quick-trick here...

Yes, Google Adwords and Overture would be very expensive for keywords dealing with mortgage. First of all, make sure you are listed in all the free directories including DMOZ, Joeant, and others. This can help you be found in the engines sooner, also, sometimes giving you some PageRank. I would also do a link exchange with relevant sites in your business category.

If you only want to spend a little money, submit your important pages to Inktomi (Subscription, so it costs per URL for 1 year) which will get you listed in MSN and soon Yahoo.

Other than that build your pages around your top keyword phrases and lastly...content content content.
