So much change?

why is it that in msn, and yahoo, i've seen my site change almost on a daily basis, from being placed 3rd, then the next day at 10, then back to the top listings, then at one point i went down to 38th in the listings, and i didn't change a thing?, what is going on?
One of my other listings is doing the same too, from 49th to 10th, back to 35! .
