Hi ,

We run Freelancewell.com , unfortunately the keywords we have to use are all tier 1 or very competitive , like affordable web design , custom programming , ...

Do you have ideas how to improve our ranking.

The site is still new and not indexed by the engines yet ,

So i wanted to get it right the first time .

thanks
chad

The best advice i can give you is to get links pointing at your site with the anchor text as the targeted phrases for the search engines.l

Your very new so it will take time. As Jessica said, you are going to need links. Submit your site to DMOZ, which will do a great deal of good for Google. Get a Yahoo Directory listing, $299.00 per year, but you can usually get some great Pagerank, plus you may get listed well in Yahoo search.

You need to optimize your site around your top keyword phrases, especially your homepage title. That is very important. You need to change it from your company name, always add that to the end of the title, if you need it at all.

Read through this forum and you will find more than enough answers.

I actually wouldnt reccomend a yahoo directory listing... very expensive - very little return. I'd be more tempeted to go for a directory like bluefind.com - one time fee - good PR - good return in my eyes.

But remember every seo is different - you do whats right for you.

Depending on your funds, it can be expensive, but I find that many get a great return. The reason is that the actual Yahoo Directory listing show up in the actual Yahoo search engine, and usually on the first page.

Plus you can usually get link on a PR5 or 6 page.

like i said - we all have our ways.

True enough yahoo gives you a pr5/6 link - but i can buy a permenant one for $20 - as for the search results - yahoo is easy enough to work...

In my eyes - for almost $300 a year - you can do so much more with that money and get such a greater return.
