Parked Domains

Post June 27th, 2004, 5:07 pm

Lets say there is an existing wesite that was never submitted to the search engines. Then a parked domain is added to this website. Which domain would score higher with the search engines, the origional domain or the parked domain?

Hi softstor,
Could you explain

? Is the parked domin replacing the current one?

Domain names without a parking page usually point to a holding page, which google will ignor as not being unique.

I have about 5,000 domains pointing to the same place e.g http://www.designsfromparadise.co.uk

Does this help with link popularity and PR?

Or is it just a way of having many doorways to your main site?

It may only help in Google (Not Yahoo!, which is not coping very well with the redirect at the moment) if:
- redirection is a 301 ( permanent )
- The redirected domains have some links pointing towards them

All the pages are on the same IP range, so I don't think it makes any difference.

I do get a lot of traffic from them as they act as a sort of advert for my sites services.

IMO, If all the links were pointing at the same site, you would be better off

Sorry,

I meant that there is only one holding page, so Google is likely to only list one of the domains. I had thought about setting up unique pages for every domain name, but that is too much work for the likely benefit.

So Clare,
What's up with your German site?

Hi,

The translation service I used let me down. Always interested in quotes, but its not a high priority.
