SE placement service - worth it?

I found a place that guarantees your site placement to be in the top 10 results of whatever keyword you choose. It will do it for several search engines, including google, msn, aol, etc. And they guarantee you'll get another 10,000 hits/year after this. And you even name 3 sites you want to outrank and they'll make it happen.

I'm seriously considering this because it's guaranteed. Does anyone have any comments or experience with this?

for a site like ozzu or yours, it would probably be worth it, but in the long
run, you're going to get listed on google and others anyway just by
being alive on the net. So, in short term, it's probably good to give you a
quick boost. JMO.

I recommend looking in google for reviews people have given about the site you are looking at. The first thing I usually do is type in the name of their site (their title) + complaints

and see if that turns up many results. I have found alot of people complaining about sites in the past and that is a good signal you might be wasting your money.

Also on another note, there is no way anybody can gurantee your ranking in google. It is possible they can help you achieve high rankings, but you should just be aware if you are going for a term that is extremely competitive, it may not happen. I would make sure that the company will refund your money in case they cannot do it. Also check on the internet to see if anybody has complained that they do not live up to their gurantee. Some companies gurantee alot of stuff, but when it comes time to refund, they might not be prompt, and may make you jump through many hoops and loops first.

Personally, I wouldn't do it, even if 1000 bucks seems cheap. The bottom line is, there are now hundreds of such kinds of "SEO's" out there, and they still seem to think that, taken any keyword, they can put you in the top 10 for Google, because that's what it was like 2-3 years ago.

Nowadays, everyone's doing it. So, how is it possible to guarantee top 10 rankings if more than 10 SEO's are working on the same keywords? What happens, if someone hires your SEO after you have, and he optimizes for the same keywords?

Basically, SEO is ongoing, and a rush job costing 1000 is not going to do much for you. Try asking them to 'guarantee' you a top ranking on a term like "credit cards", or "online casino"...if they're confident about it, then avoid them like the plague!!! Nobody in their right mind would be confident about top search terms --- anyone experienced would be wary and explain to you that SEO is not about keywords as much as it is about "intelligence" work...

On a more positive note: if your budget is small, then I'd recommend learning the SEO tricks yourselves and experimenting with a few small sites. You should be able to learn the basic "$1000" tricks within a few months.
