is there different when we use domain name
with prefix www or not ?

example at google, when i try to type
link: http://www.abc.com and link: abc.com

both of them return different number of result.

the main function of ___.domain.com is to redirect to a directory. both http://www.domain.com and domain.com direct to the root directory of the webservers httpd folder, so they are the same thing.

They provide the same function, but the search engine results are dictated by what is linked to. I'm pretty certain that most SEO guys would recommend to be sure all your backlinks contain the www subdomain. You will see different results in PR, SERPS and backlinks depending on how the site is being indexed by the engines.

ATNO/TW you are right.

Although it doesn't particularly matter which one is used, as long as there is consistent effort with regards to internal links and what link partners link to.

If you mix it up, your PR will get diluted as if you had two separate sites. Best not to do that.
