Questionable Technique

A fellow webmaster is excited about this trick they found. He says that putting keyword in the top of the index page in real small font, then making them the same color as the background increases traffic. I wouldn't mind using this technique on my page or my client's pages, but I don't want to do anything unethical.

Is there a general consensus regarding this technique or a name for it?

Yes, thats called spam..dont do it. The best thing you can do for your rankings is get quality backlinks to your site..

That technique is soooo 90s. Avoid like the plague.
