search engine traffic

how can i kick start my site to get search engine traffic? I have an old site Im trying to revive and its listed in all the main engines including yahoo but I dont seem to get any traffic from them...

You need to optimize your site for certain key phrases. This whole foum is about this. I would do some research and then post some specific questions about your site. You could even post your URL so we could all give you some pointers.

keywords research for your site first....

ie. what words do you want to be competing for..

to keep things simple, just get one or two targetted keyword phrase done for each page of your website

and submit to as many directories as you can..

ie. "hairy caterpillar" is your targetted phrase, use it as many times as possible,

all these in short....if you are really into it, post question/s about your site in OZzu...

A big kick start is to get backlinks or incoming links to your site. With these, you will not have to submit to basic SE's, such as G, Y (SE, not directory), MSN, etc. The spiders will find the links to your site, and index your site.

lots of backlinks with your target keyword would do better...

II linking strategies - get good sites with high pr that are related to your industry to link to you. have them use your keyword as the link text
