I am seeing more and more references to the use of sub-domains in the SEO liturature.

Anyone have an opinion as to how important they are? My current ISP does not support sub-domains.

They are not important at all. You should only use a subdomain if you are ging to display completely different information on a completely differenty subject.

I market a wide variety of automotive accessories on our web site. So each product group would have different keywords, for example, car covers, seat covers, tonneau covers, etc.

I have also read that it is good to have your primary keyword in your url name, so I was thinking CarCovers.AccessorizeYourVehicle.com etc. would be helpful.
