Alexa ranking of websites are calculated based on users that have the Alexa toolbar installed on their pc's. The more users that visit your site with the toolbar installed, the more popular (higher rank) with. The closer your rank is to 1 the better.

Alexa toolbar was only available for IE, but they recently released a Firefox version.

Sometimes your website info goes away and then it appears again.
They might be working on the site or you probably did not get visitors to your site.

Put an Alexa widget on your homepage and they will track your site.

Hope this helped

Alexa ranking doesnt mean much. You can manipulate it in different ways. Its just fun.
