Backlinks are link that point back to your site, like the one I just removed also called IBL's inbound links.

To get them simply contact webmasters of sites that are related to yours and point out the benefit of them linking to you. Submit your site to all available directories, as this should get you traffic as well as backlinks.

Backlinks are one of the many source for your site to rank in search engines.
But not only consider an ordinary backlinks but it will be better if it is a quality ones!

Back links to your website acts as vote to your website. The more vote your site gets the more PR. ( BUT it MUST be coming from Quality websites)
