I would like to start this important post to share the most effective search optimization practices, lets start discussing what search engines like and what factors have a direct impact on website search engine ranking, you are welcome to continue ...

- Keyword phrases put in website content
- Keyword phrases put in meta tags - tittle, description, keywords
- Incoming link quality and number
- Keyword phrases in incoming links
- Keyword phrases in internal links
- Keyword phrases in domain name
- Each page should be available for 2 clicks
- The time visitors spend on website
- Content update
- Website traffic
- Domain age
- PageRank

Very good conclusion.
for me...this is a little trick that I add from your main factors.

1.Add your URl in web directory.
2.Good key words, less competitive.
3.Exchange link with homepage have 4 rates+ in page rank.
4.Don't make a free stuff homepage. (Low quality webpage for google)
5.Monitoring and tracking.
6.good software SEO analysis. (can download at my signature for free)
7.Don't put link more than 100 links in one page.(We call link farm)
8.Site map for webpage.

Yes, it is also tru that it is useful to keep navigation menu and the main text saturated with keywords and key phrases at the top part of website! Also it is expedient to put key phrases into internal link text of navigation menu!
