I think you are talking about "anchor text"...this is the text that makes up the link. Look at the links at the bottom of this page...see "hair removal", "freelance programmer", "thumbnail creator"...they are all anchor text.

The code looks like this:

"Webmaster Resources" is the anchor text.

U can use The Search Engine Spider Simulator to check if your link is visible to Search Engines or not....
