Hi all!
I have my website http://www.inucleo.co.uk. I am currently on free webhosting and they do allow parking domains..
but they said that i need to make the domain point to the hosting.
but i bought the domain through oneandone.co.uk and they dont allow DNS changes.
so at the moment it is mearly redirecting it.
so http://www.inucleo.co.uk is going to http://www.inucleo.ashst.com. http://www.inucleo.co.uk is masking the old address, which is pritty annoying but with this happening http://www.inucleo.co.uk has a PR of 4 and when u go onto another of my pages it still reads http://www.inucleo.co.uk pr-4...
this aint gonna work, with the redirection my site is not being crawled be search engines..
how can i get round this?
http://www.inucleo.co.uk is pointing at a splash page at the moment...
how do i get google to go through the redirection and onto the other pages..?

Maybe try doing a 301 Permanent Redirect. If you have access to use .htaccess files with the rewrite directive, you could do it by uploading an .htaccess file with something like:

Code: [ Select ]
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule /* http://www.yourotherdomain.com/ [R=permanent]
  1. RewriteEngine On
  2. RewriteRule /* http://www.yourotherdomain.com/ [R=permanent]

I believe google would follow the permanent redirect.

I am a little confused but here goes anyway!

http://www.inucleo.co.uk redirects to http://www.inucleo.ashst.com but you are seeing the same PR on each page and are concerned that search engines are not spidering the other pages... am I right so far? I am also assuming that you domain of http://www.inucleo.co.uk is not hosted in anyway. (I have a few similar circumstances).

One thing I should mention (I think this may be relevant) is the fact that your domain is being forwarded via 'framed forwarding'. Thus, in effect, every page is being viewed within a frame that you can't see. So, technically, your 'top' page is always http://www.inucleo.co.uk (which will contain very few lines of code) and the page you are viewing is 'inside'. Therefore, whatever page you view, you will get the same PR simply because you are on the same page! Does that make sense? Why not try using your direct URL in google toolbar and see what the results are?

I also have a few sites that are like this where I have domains registered and they redirect to a subfolder of my main host account (http://www.mydomain.com forwards to http://www.myhost.com/subfolder) and the http://www.mydomain.com is listed within the likes of google but with minimal PR and not real content in the description displayed. It is also hardly reindexed.

On the other hand, if I check http://www.myhost.com/subfolder on Google it is 'flurishing' and everything appears normal. I think whilst your redirect page is merely that, it is a seperate entity from your hosting so you need to make provisions for that.

I would suggest making sure ALL of your links within http://www.inucleo.ashst.com are FULL links and making sure that you include the http://www.inucleo.ashst.com at the begining.

On another note I see that As-hosting (who you use for hosting) do domain registrations. Why don't you see if they can transfer your domain name in to them and then map it to your current hosting? Some registrants charge for transfering in, some charge for mapping, some even charge to transfer out - on the other hand some dont charge anything for anything. You can but ask and that would no doubt be the ideal solution.
