Hey,

My banner has shown up 2,339 and I've had 0 clicks.

Do I need to recreate my banner, or am I expecting too much from banner advertising? Anyone out there have any experience with banner advertising?
thanks.

p.s. I'm looking into Kanoodle. Look's very very promising, much more than adwords.

I think having a price flash up there is bad. You should simply draw them
to your site and have them inquire to get pricing. Easier to sell it that
way. Since the banner is doing the talking for you, what do they need to
speak with a salesman for? Maybe remove the price and simply
put "REALLY CHEAP!" Just something to consider.

personally, i think you're expecting too much for banner advertising. It's
really old school, and for the most part, you won't et much from it any
more.

What is it that you're trying to gain from your banner? traffic? $ from
clicks? clients? all of the above?

just curious...

hey unflux thanks for the response,

I think i'm looking to attract perspective clients. Even if the banner does really well, it doesn't mean anythign to me without the final outcome of a sale.

I know banner advertising isn't what it used to be, but I didnt expect 0 clicks on 2500 impressions. What's the average click/impression for banner advertising, any better form?

You mentioned earlier that I shouldnt list a price and I should have the prospect inquire for sale . . .
Take a look at the website, and as you see *shiver* im using Paypal */shiver*.
Do you feel the same way about on the site?

ages ago I wrote a post on some advertising hints for people to get traffic to their websites, I cant find it and I cant be bothered rewriting it

I basically said these points tho:
URL advertising on your cars
ring advertisiments in the local paper that of a decent size, but have no website.
yellow pages
good placement on search engines
put a link at the bottom of sites you have already designed

banner advertisements are merely for product name recognition because you see it so damn much :D

And as for the kanoodle thing, I've had a MUCH better experience with AdWords..you should reconsider them.

I advertise the freelance site in my sig, mostly with freelance keywords, which I can almost always get away with the $0.05 bid and get decent rates (I think I got like 900 clicks last month, give or take).

I also use banner adverts, which give me about the same ROI as my Adwords...
That's why I was wondering exactly where those banner impressions came from? Not all impressions are created equal and all that..
