Hi everyone, I would like to try advertising a shop for Rent. The challenge I face is:

- The place of the shop is in a place - (unlike the US) I live in Malaysia, where the use of internet to search for shop rental is still not common. Do you think I can try using Google Adwords or something else?

Thank you.

If the internet is not common for that type of advertisement, why use it? What is the common method?

Putting fliers in train stations might work better than the internet, if word of mouth is most common.

Yeah, but I doubt the train passengers' capability to rent shop. In our area, if you take train.. you are poor..

See, apart from renting a shop, what kind of business is it suitable for? It is on Second floor with no lift(elevator).

What kind of shop was it? Now it sounds like you need to put an ad in the newspaper under business opportunities.

That's going to be quite costly, did I mention over here, placing ads on Newspaper is about 400 - 1000 (generally) per time which has a space of 7 by 3 centimeters on the ads section, for 2 days I think, not sure. but isn't that costly?

I am thinking of a simpler, more cost-effective and productive way.

We used to place ads for a very long time, 3 years, to get one successful rental. I don't think the economy now is any better.

Aren't there better ways..

Don: What kind of shop is it?
*I'd try and get a picture of it scanned and post up here, Don.

Fighting a bad economy is a loosing battle, no matter how you advertise. I remember a lawyer renting a house to be used as an office because he was getting double the space for half the rent.

I thought to myself, what a great idea! People are finding ways to save. If they have to subcontract some work & take a little less profit, they will work from home.

My chiropractor did the same thing. I built some walls in his house so he could work from home. He sold his X-ray equipment & sends people to the lab.
