I think the best thing that has worked for me is:

a) PPC programmes
b) Definitely writing articles in blogs
c) SEO

I would of thought an e-newsletter would be good, if people contain a lot of useful information, it will attract visitors back to your website.

I got a lot of people viewing my youtube videos by make a few dozen and uploading them and branding with my website url but am not sure how many came to the site.

I don't think you can tell unless you brand videos with a new site domain that you have never advertised or you put a url in the video that no other page links to it and then you can see how many visitors that page gets. But then that is something that I wouldn't suggest for you to do.
