I don't even sign up for Affiliate Programs. The Best Way to Get More Links would be to personally communicate with similar sites and affiliate with them.

Define "affiliate program"...

The affiliate programs I use I give me a % of all sales I send to them.

I'm on a couple of those programs, one uses SSL for credit card transactions, and they both accept PayPal (which is covered by paypal.com's SSL cert).

One transfers to me through PayPal, the other mails me a cheque.

I don't see how an affiliate program would help with links.
