If you do, you get whole families/clans that never seem to want to leave. OK, with that said, here's part of our family of raccoons who came up for their evening snack of cat food. Caught these while waiting for the hummingbird posted earlier. (These guys were only about 3 feet away from me).

I don't think I've seen one that looks like pappa there, cool coloring. :D

They're crafty little buggers, every time I've gone camping we've had to bungee our trash cans shut or they'll have it all over the place.
When I go night fishing at Fort Desoto pier I always see a bunch of them hanging out around the food/bathrooms building on the walk up to the pier.
Some people freak out and wont walk past them because they don't run, they just stare at you wondering if you're going to toss a fish at them. lol

We hadn't seen one with that dark of coloring either until this year. We call him "Black Bear" cause he almost looks like one. The mother in the first picture has been around for years. If there's no food around when she comes up, she'll sit up on her back legs, stare at you with puppy dog eyes, and beg with her front paws in the air (I do hope to catch a picture of that someday). We can actually walk right up to her and put a container of food right under her nose. She's usually already eating out of it before we lay it on the ground.

They are wild. As "tame" as they seem, I'd never attempt to pet one. Even Rocky (the mama) who lets you get close, I've seen mean as heck with her kids and I've seen them all fight with each other at one time or another.

No, they aren't tame at all, plus raccoons are a common carrier of rabies. They simply aren't all that much afraid of people and are just there for the food.
